A Brief Manifesto
Our team has built and operated a stack of hit games, but never one quite like this. We may be confident in the mobile free-to-play world, but this challenge is different
To pioneer something this ambitious, you have to stay humble. We didn't want traditional gaming with a sprinkling of web3, but something much more disruptive. The initial months of prototyping were guided by product pillars derived from web3 primitives.
We’ve learned through this process that web2.5 rounds down, not up. Our other prototypes weren't killed for lack of fun, but for not leveraging web3 for adequate impact.
If it’s not a game changer, it’s not enough.
We ultimately found our perfect first game with Rumble Arcade.
This is the process we intend to use for all our games: working backwards from the ecosystem we want to create. Design goals focused on a lively open economy and community empowerment, tracked to core gameplay mechanics and moment-to-moment gameplay.
Focusing on new web3-enabled metagame components leads to fresh player experiences.
Playtest Results
Unique core mechanics are always risky. Ours proved very popular already in the first community playtest
After just 6 months of focused development, our engagement averaged 119 minutes per day. 40% of our testers played for 7 consecutive days. Players have kept asking for more, so we’ve kept the tournaments running.
Signs this good are not typical for games this early in development.
Usually at this point, most games are still in soul-searching mode: failing to engage players or provide anything unique.
For Rumble Arcade, the initial playtests have already given us validation points and a huge amount of confidence.
This is where you want to be as a developer: great reception AND plenty of things to improve.
Most importantly, the strong foundational elements are usable for our future games.
